释义 | Castleton State College college, Castleton, Vermont, United States public, coeducational institution of higher learning located in Castleton, Vt., U.S. The curriculum is based on the traditional liberal arts, and the university also offers study in business, education, and health sciences. Master's degree programs in education and forensic psychology are available. Total enrollment is approximately 1,700. Castleton State College is the oldest institution of higher learning in Vermont and one of the oldest in the United States. It was chartered in 1787 by the General Assembly of the Republic of Vermont. Initially, the school was known as the Rutland County Grammar School. It went through a series of manifestations as a high school, an academy, a seminary, and then a normal school. The state of Vermont purchased control of the school in 1912, and Castleton became the first of Vermont's state colleges. |
