American professional boxing trainer and manager, brother of boxing promoter Chris Dundee.
Dundee learned boxing by studying the techniques of world-renowned trainers at Stillman's Gym in New York City. The first world champion Dundee trained was Carmen Basilio (Basilio, Carmen), who held the welterweight and middleweight titles in the 1950s. Dundee eventually relocated to Miami, Florida, and was the chief trainer at the famous Fifth Street Gym. In 1960 he was hired to train Muhammad Ali (Ali, Muhammad). Their association continued for virtually all of Ali's career.
Dundee also was instrumental in managing the career of welterweight champion Sugar Ray Leonard (Leonard, Sugar Ray). The list of noteworthy fighters trained by Dundee also includes George Foreman (Foreman, George), Jimmy Ellis, Luis Rodriguez, Sugar Ramos, Ralph Dupas, and Willie Pastrano. Dundee was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1992.
