释义
unisexuality
biology
in biology, the condition of an organism or species capable of producing only male or female gametes (sex cells) but never both. A unisexual organism of a bisexual species is one in which the male and female gonads are found in separate individuals. In plants this condition is often called dioecism. A unisexual species is one in which all individuals are of the same sex. Some species of whiptail (racerunner) lizards, for example, are only female. New individuals grow from eggs that develop without fertilization ( parthenogenesis).
