Its fishing port is one of the country's largest and also handles timber and agricultural products. Matches, textile bobbins, and bone fertilizer are manufactured in the city. Veraval is a railway terminus and lies on a major highway. The city has been affected by tropical cyclones (tropical cyclone) that originate in the Arabian Sea.
