It is a tough material resistant to attack by chemicals or by weathering, produced by treating vinyl fluoride (q.v.) under pressure in the presence of oxygen and peroxide catalysts. It is commonly manufactured in the form of films for use in coating such surfaces as siding for buildings or pipes used for transporting corrosive chemicals.
