Fuel injection into a chamber upstream from the cylinders distributes the fuel more evenly to the individual cylinders than does a carburetor system; more power can be developed and undesirable emissions are reduced. In engines with continuous combustion, such as gas turbines (gas-turbine engine) and liquid-fueled rockets, which have no pistons to create a pumping action, fuel-injection systems are necessary.
