释义 | Gmunden Austria town, north-central Austria, where the Traun River flows out of Lake Traun (Traunsee), a mountain lake. The site of Celtic and Roman settlements, Gmunden was fortified in the 12th century and chartered in the 13th. Its Baroque parish church on 13th-century foundations was consecrated in 1723, and the town hall dates from 1659. Once an important centre of the Salzkammergut (“salt region”), Gmunden is now a summer resort. It also has breweries and cement, ceramic, textile, electrical, shoe, and wood industries. Gmunden is an important centre of trade and a provider of services for the extensive rural environs. Pop. (2006) 13,265. |
