释义 | Yonge, Charlotte M. British author in full Charlotte Mary Yonge born , August 11, 1823, Otterbourne, Hampshire, England died March 24, 1901, Otterbourne ![]() Her first success came with The Heir of Redclyffe (1853), whose hero made goodness attractive and romantic. Her other novels include Heartsease (1854); The Daisy Chain (1856), which depicts the moral conflict of sheltered lives; and The Young Stepmother (1861). She also edited a magazine for girls, The Monthly Packet, for which she wrote historical cameos, and composed religious tracts. Her best work has a vitality that saves it from being propagandist.
