volcanic range in the southwestern part of northern Luzon in the Philippines. The range stretches northwest-southeast from Lingayen Gulf in the north to the Bataan Peninsula and the entrance to Manila Bay in the south. Its greatest elevation is High Peak (6,683 feet 【2,037 m】). Lying farther south and across the bay from Manila is Mount Mariveles (4,659 feet 【1,420 m】), which marks the southern termination of the range. The Zambales Mountains are rich in minerals, and their slopes are densely forested.
