The city's major industries include a dye factory and woolen mills. Jhunjhunu houses the mausoleum of Qamar al-Dīn Shah, patron saint of the Kamkhani sect, as well as a 10th-century Jaina temple. The city also contains a hospital and a college affiliated with the University of Rajasthan. The area in which Jhunjhunu is situated consists of a semiarid sandy plain.
