释义 | Mhow India also called Mau town, western Madhya Pradesh state, central India. It lies on the southern Malwa Plateau, the watershed of the Chambal and Narmada river basins. The town, formerly a large British cantonment, was founded in 1818 by John Malcolm. It remains an important cantonment; a small fort and military camp are there. The town is on the Mumbai-Agra highway and has an airport. Dairy farming is a major industry. There is a government college affiliated with the University of Indore. The Swarga Mandir in the cantonment area and an old baori (stepwell) built in 1743 are significant attractions. Bhujariya, an annual barley feast, is held in Mhow in July or August. Pop. (2001) 87,140. |
