Chinese (Pinyin) Mushitage Shan or (Wade-Giles romanization) Mu-shih-t'a-ko Shan, also called Kashgar Range
mountain range in the westernmost part of the Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang (Sinkiang, Uygur Autonomous Region of), northwestern China. As a far western part of the Kunlun Mountains, it extends some 200 miles (320 km) along a north-northwest and south-southeast axis parallel to the eastern edge of the Pamirs range and rises to 25,325 feet (7,719 metres) at Mount Kongur (Gongge'er). The peak of Muztagata (24,757 feet 【7,546 metres】) in the range is nicknamed “the father of glaciers” and is about 100 miles (160 km) southwest of the city of Kashgar (Kashi).
