释义 | Pacasmayo Peru seaport town, northwestern Peru. It lies near the mouth of the Jequetepeque River. The surrounding valley is an agricultural oasis for growing sugarcane and rice. A railroad constructed in the 1870s connected Pacasmayo to Chilete but closed in 1967 during construction of the Pan-American Highway; the Pacasmayo train station has since been converted into a museum. Mule caravans had to carry cargo to Cajamarca and other towns in the interior until a modern highway was built connecting Pacasmayo to Cajamarca. A cement plant is the town's main employer.
