The university's undergraduate programs are run by its College of Arts and Sciences and College of Business and Administration. In addition to undergraduate studies, the university offers master's degree programs in business, education, and other areas. Research facilities include the Comey Institute for Industrial Relations. Total enrollment is approximately 6,900. The university was founded in 1851 as St. Joseph's College. The following year it received its charter from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Women were first admitted in 1970, and St. Joseph's was elevated to university status in 1978. |
