释义 | Tobey, Mark American artist born December 11, 1890, Centerville, Wisconsin, U.S. died April 24, 1976, Basel, Switzerland American painter whose individual experiments with abstract, calligraphic work influenced subsequent art trends, especially Abstract Expressionism. Tobey studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and worked for a time as a fashion illustrator and portraitist in New York City.
