释义 | Pollock, Sir Frederick, 3rd Baronet British scholar born Dec. 10, 1845, London, Eng. died Jan. 18, 1937, London ![]() Pollock was called to the bar in 1871, taught jurisprudence at the University of Oxford (1883–1903), succeeded his father in the baronetcy in 1888, and was made a king's counsel in 1920. He was a founder and the first editor (1885–1919) of the Law Quarterly Review and also edited the Law Reports (1895–1935). Three of Pollock's textbooks remained in use for many years: Principles of Contract (1876), Digest of the Law of Partnership (1877), and The Law of Torts (1887). The Holmes-Pollock Letters, edited by Mark De Wolfe Howe, were published in 1941. Pollock's son, Frederick John Pollock (1878–1963), a noted historian, succeeded to the baronetcy. |
