释义 | fanwort plant also called water shield ![]() The narrow, floating leaves of fanwort are about 5 to 20 mm (1/5 to 3/4 inch) long and appear at the time of flowering. A slimy leafstalk attaches the centre of the leaf blade to the stem and roots, which are anchored in mud. The submerged leaves, 2 to 5 cm (about 3/4 to 2 inches) wide, are finely divided and fan shaped. The pale-yellow or white flowers are about 5.5 mm to 1 cm (1/5 to 2/5 inch) long. Cabomba caroliniana, sometimes called Washington grass, fish grass, or Carolina water shield, is the most common species in North America. It is often cultivated as an aquarium plant. |
