词条 | Volyn-Podilsk Upland |
释义 | Volyn-Podilsk Upland plateau, Ukraine also spelled Volyn-podolsk, plateau extending between the Dniester and upper Bug river valleys in the west and the Dnieper River in the east in western Ukraine. In the north, where it is bordered by an escarpment, the plateau reaches to a line between the cities of Zhytomyr, Kremenets, and Lviv, while in the south it is terminated by the Zaporizhzhya-Balta line, beyond which lie the Black Sea lowlands. The northwestern part near Lviv is highest, reaching 1,545 feet (471 m). The plateau is composed of loess and horizontal rocks, with outcrops, in the river valley and especially in the east, of crystalline rocks. The eastern area between the Southern (Pivdennyy) Buh and the Dnieper rivers is sometimes called the Dnieper Upland. |
