释义 | Parbhani India city, east-central Maharashtra (Mahārāshtra) state, western India. It lies on the Manmad-Hyderabad railway about 10 miles (16 km) south of the Dudna River. Its name refers to the Prabhavati Temple, which was forcibly converted to a mosque during the Mughal period. The city is a commercial and industrial centre with cotton ginning and pressing as major industries. Shivaji Udyan (Shivaji's Garden) and the fort of Roshan Khan, as well as the tomb of Hazrat Sayyad Shah Turabat, are important landmarks. The economy of the surrounding region is almost wholly agricultural; the chief crops are jowar (grain sorghum), bajra (pearl millet), cotton, and sugarcane. Pop. (2001) 259,329. |
