释义 | Wicomico county, Maryland, United States county, southeastern Maryland, U.S., bordered by Delaware to the north, the Pocomoke River to the east, the Wicomico River to the southwest, and the Nanticoke River to the west and northwest. Salisbury, the county seat, developed as the commercial centre of the Delmarva Peninsula and became one of the largest ports in Maryland. Parklands include Wicomico Demonstration Forest. Wicomico county was created in 1867 and named for the Wicomico River. The county's economy is based on agriculture (truck farming, poultry, and soybeans), food processing, and tourism. Area 377 square miles (977 square km). Pop. (2000) 84,644; (2007 est.) 93,600. |
