释义 | Ṣalīf, Al- Yemen coastal village, western Yemen, on the Tihāmah (coastal plain). It is situated in a cove of a promontory forming the southern coast of Kamarān Bay of the Red Sea and is protected by the offshore island of Kamarān, which belongs to Yemen. Al-Ṣalīf is important because of its large deposits of rock salt (halite). The salt, of exceptional purity, is mined by a government-owned corporation. A large-scale expansion of the Al-Ṣalīf port was completed in 1976. Pop. (latest est.) 2,574. |
