释义 | Monchique Mountains mountain range, Portugal Portuguese Serra De Monchique low mountain range in southern Portugal, near Cape Saint Vincent, the southwestern extremity of the Iberian Peninsula. A dissected igneous rock (syenite) massif, its highest point is Foia (2,960 ft 【902 m】). The range is famous for its wild and generally varied plant life, as well as for its spas with medicinal waters (Caldas de Monchique). Some timbering (pine, chestnut, oak) is carried on. Eucalyptus plantations have encroached extensively on inland hills. Along the winding road up to the heights a number of hotels and roadside restaurants cater to tourists. |
