释义 | Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Arboretum garden, New York City, New York, United States botanical garden founded in 1911 in Brooklyn, N.Y., municipally owned and privately operated (by the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences). It maintains an extensive and widely emulated program of public education. The 50-acre (20-hectare) area in Brooklyn is augmented by a 220-acre (90-hectare) field station in nearby Westchester county. Among the more than 12,000 plant forms in the botanical garden are special rose, cactus, and orchid collections, a bonsai exhibit, a fragrant garden for the blind, a Shakespeare garden, and a wildflower garden. The garden underwent a major expansion and renovation of facilities in 1988–89. The garden publishes a quarterly, Plants and Gardens. |
